ODT Actor Spotlight: Alana Hunt

Or Die Trying executive producers Sarah Hawkins and Myah Hollis caught up with actress Alana Hunt to talk about her experience playing a dramatic actress in ODT Season 1.

ODT: Where are you from?

Alana Hunt: Austin, TX

ODT: What character do you play in Or Die Trying?

AH: "Actress"

ODT: What made you want to pursue acting?

AH: I've always loved story-telling! As a kid, I was either writing fiction about my stuffed animals or performing shows for my family. I have a dance background so at first, I thought I wanted to direct music videos and commercials. However, at some point, I decided to honor my true self and go after what I really wanted: a career as a writer/actress.

ODT: What first drew you to this series?

AH:I love seeing bad ass women going after what they want! As an actress/writer in L.A., this series hits so close to home. Not only does it have an amazing message, but the storyline is incredibly captivating.

ODT: Without giving too much away, what do you relate to most with your character?

AH: In the series, I play an actress that auditions against Ellie. In the last 3 years of living in Los Angeles, I've been in countless audition rooms so it was easy to tap into those prior experiences.

ODT: What was it like to work on a set with a predominately female crew?

AH: I felt so incredibly at ease. I shot my scene on the first day so spirits were high! You could tell that not only were people excited to be on set because it's what we love to do, but also there was this added layer of female empowerment. You could feel the excitement that this concept had come to fruition!

ODT: What do you think is the best way for the industry to go about closing the gender gap?

AH: It, without a doubt, has everything to do with the industry having more female executives. If we have more bad ass women at the top, it will no doubt trickle down when it comes to crewing up and the casting of future projects.

ODT: What other projects are you working on?

AH: I created a female-driven, comedic web series called Female Friendly! It's about two polar opposite best friends who decide to start a female-friendly porn production company together. You can watch it on Seeka TV next year!
